Where to submit

Editorial policy

  • All authors of a manuscript submitted to Soybean Research should be members of the Society.
  • Manuscripts must be original work contributing to the advancement of soybean research.
  • Data must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Every manuscript is subject to peer review by two experts and by the Editorial Board.
  • Revisions must be returned within four weeks.
  • Include a self-addressed stamped envelope or an email contact.

Manuscript format

  • Double-spaced on A4 paper, Times New Roman, font size 12.
  • Margins of 4 cm at the top, bottom and left.
  • All pages numbered — text, references, tables and figure legends.
  • An author email address is required.

Full paper — maximum 4,000 words / 15 pages

Required sections, in order: Title, Author(s), Address, Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgements, References.

  • Title — short, concise and informative; first letter capital; Latin names italicised.
  • Authors — names in capitals.
  • Abstract — maximum 150 words, summarising the main findings without experimental detail.
  • Key words — four to five terms, including host and pest names.
  • Results and Discussion — present data in text, tables or figures without duplication; use standard metric units with appropriate prefixes (for example 14 mg, not 0.014 g or 14000 µg).

Approved abbreviations: yr, wk, h, min, sec., RH, g, ml, g/l, temp., kg/ha, a.i., 2:1 (v/v), 1:2 (w/w), 0:20:10 (N:P:K), mm, cm, nm, cv., %.

References

In-text citations take the form Author (year), or Author and Author (year) for two authors. The reference list is alphabetical.

Tables

  • One table per page, numbered sequentially.
  • Descriptive headings are required.
  • Data limited to one or two decimal places.
  • Include transformed values where they are discussed.

Illustrations

  • Numbered consecutively in the text.
  • Line drawings in black ink on smooth white or tracing paper.
  • Submit the original plus two photostat copies.
  • Approximately twice the reproduction size.
  • No labels or numbers on the originals.
  • Include scale indicators.

Photographs

  • Glossy paper with good contrast; three copies required.
  • Author names, figure numbers and top orientation marked on the back in soft pencil.
  • Include a magnification bar scale.
  • Coloured photographs are printed at the author's expense.

Short research notes — maximum 1,300 words / 5 pages

Suitable for complete research results that do not require comprehensive treatment, for new materials or techniques with supporting data, or for components of a thesis. No section headings; key words are required; figures and tables should be minimal.

Review articles

Authors with in-depth knowledge of a subject are welcome to submit review articles. Such articles should consist of a critical synthesis of work done in a field of research in India and abroad, and should not merely be a compilation.

Proofs

Authors should correct proofs critically, in ink, in the margin. All queries marked in the article should be answered. Proofs are supplied to check the correctness of the typesetting and of facts. Excessive alterations will be charged to the author. Proofs must be returned immediately to shorten reproduction time.
